Now that you know about climate and how it relates to weather, try these climate activities. They'll help you watch the climate and think about your favorite weather. And always talk to your teacher before you start one of these activities. Your teacher may have additional things for you to do.

Climate Watch

Materials: The Weather Research Center site, the means to record the temperature and precipitation for a month.

Activity: You can follow the climate for your home town. Record the temperature and rainfall for your town each day at a certain time. At the end of the month, see if your records match the recorded climate. Use The Weather Research Center or World Climate for climate information to compare with your information.

Older students can choose to record the climate in any city in the United States. You can use this site and the links listed above to help you watch your city.

Your Favorite Weather

Materials: Pen or pencil, paper, your imagination

Activity: Think about the weather. What kind of weather do you like? In what climate would you find that weather in? Where do you find that kind of climate and why? Write down your answers to these questions in complete sentences. Explain why you like the weather you chose, and what you'd do if you moved to a climate with your favorite weather.
