The Southern region includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. 
In January the South has mild days with cool nights. Most of the precipitation falls in areas near the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf is a really good moisture source for storm systems. 

In areas away from the Gulf, it is mainly cool and dry. Snow occurs the further north you go in the region.

July in the Southern region is hot and humid. Some call it sticky because of the humidity. Most of the rain falls in thunderstorms and heavy downpours. There is a lot of sunshine and nice weather, especially as you travel away from the Gulf.
