Introduction:
What does a weather consultant do?

Your Job: Help People

When you think of careers in the field of meteorology, you might first think of television broadcasters or forecasters for the National Weather Service.

But another very important career is that of weather consulting. As a weather consultant, you help people or businesses make decisions based on your knowledge of weather.

Sometimes that means knowing the current weather situations, but it also requires knowledge of climatology (what weather has been like in the past). Climate concerns long-term weather patterns and seasonal changes, instead of the day to day forecasts.
